Beyond the obvious

Wisdom key

“True wisdom lies in looking beyond the surface. As 1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us, ‘Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’ This timeless truth teaches us that:

  • Outward appearances can be deceiving, hiding the true nature of individuals.
  • It’s essential to look into the heart, where character, intentions, and values reside.

A personal experience that resonates with this wisdom is my search for a nanny for my children. Despite initial doubts due to appearance, the nanny who became a cherished member of our family proved that true worth lies within. Her loyalty, dedication, and care exceeded expectations, reminding me that:

  • Inner qualities like kindness, empathy, and integrity matter most.
  • Judging people based on appearance or first impressions can lead to missed opportunities.
  • Understanding others’ motivations, values, and character is crucial.

By embracing this wisdom, we can cultivate more meaningful relationships, make better decisions, and appreciate the depth within those around us.”
